Strategy rules.
Complete execution model.

The supplied Pine implementation maps the previous regular-session high, low and midpoint before the 09:35–12:00 ET entry window. Its default is Short only: when price opens inside the prior range or moderately above it, a touch of the prior RTH high must close back below that level through a bearish engulfing or rejection candle. The code also supports an alternative H1 break-and-retest below session VWAP. Protection sits above the recent three-bar high plus 0.10 ATR. For the mean-reversion setup, TP1 is the prior-session midpoint and the runner targets the prior RTH low; otherwise the coded fallbacks are 1.5R and 3R. Break-even activates at TP1 and trailing protection can begin from 3R. The supplied TradingView export contains 509 closed five-minute ES trades across the last 365 days; every recorded position is short, and that concentration is preserved explicitly.

01

Operating context

  • Market and model: E-mini S&P 500 Futures (ES1!), Prior-RTH Auction Reversion family.
  • Operating timeframe: Prior RTH map · 5m · 09:35–12:00 ET.
  • Execution window: New York session.
  • Apply the rules in sequence; one missing condition cancels the signal.
02

Pre-trade checklist

  • Confirm the full operating context before looking for an entry: Prior RTH map · 5m · 09:35–12:00 ET.
  • Map the complete trigger without anticipation: Prior RTH high touch → bearish engulfing / rejection → short.
  • Calculate size, invalidation and maximum loss before the order: Recent 3-bar high + 0.10 ATR · break-even + trailing.
03

Entry protocol

  • Execute only after the complete trigger is printed: Prior RTH high touch → bearish engulfing / rejection → short.
  • Record the level, timestamp and condition that activated the order; never turn a missed order into a chase.
04

Invalidation

  • Define the invalidation before submitting the order: Recent 3-bar high + 0.10 ATR · break-even + trailing.
  • Exit when invalidated: do not average down and do not widen the stop.
05

Position management

  • Manage the open position exactly as specified: TP1 prior midpoint · runner prior RTH low · 1.5R/3R fallback.
  • Coded exit model: TP1 prior midpoint · runner prior RTH low · 1.5R/3R fallback.
  • Discretionary changes are allowed only when defined in the preset before entry.
06

When not to trade

  • Skip incomplete signals, late entries and any setup that cannot preserve the documented risk model.
  • Skip the setup when spread, slippage, volatility or liquidity make the calculated risk unreliable.
  • Do not treat historical results as a guarantee of future performance.
